BLANCA CAMACHO

(Swing; u/s Abuela Claudia, Camila, Daniela) is a native New Yorker, lifelong resident of Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen, and a graduate of NYU.  Theatre credits include productions at The Lamb's Theatre, The Public, DUO Theatre, INTAR, and PRTT.  Television appearances include recurring roles in the daytime dramas "As the World Turns" as  Hannah, and "Guiding Light" as Carmen Monvales, as well as roles on "Law & Order," "NYPD Blue," "NY Undercover" and "Spin City." Film appearances include All Night Bodega among others.  She is an announcer for HBO Sports, has hundreds of TV and radio ads in her credits, and has also done voice work for dozens of motion pictures such as Across the Universe, American Gangster, The Nanny Diaries, The Good Shepherd, The Manchurian Candidate, Capote, World Trade Center, and new classics such as Carlito's Way, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Casino as well as the FX channel's TV series "Damages" starring Glenn Close and "Sex and the City." She has done voice characterizations for animation which include both Ice Age films, "Dora, the Explorer," and even the voice of "Chiquita Banana". It has taken "a village" for Ms. Camacho to get here and many thanks are in order: to the producing and creative teams of In the Heights, St. Michael Academy and the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Richard Galli, Frances and Dominic Russo, John Reyes, the SMA and Power Memorial Drama Clubs, Nancy Swortzell, Bill Vorenberg, the Washington Square Players and the Green Room Honor Society, my "Ya-Yas" and the Order of the Unicorn, Anthony Ruiz, Carlos and Victoria, Suzannah Kane, Olga Merediz, Tony Chiroldes, the gang at HBO, my dear friend Monty, and most especially Felipe Gorostiza.  She dedicates her performance in In the Heights to her family - to those who came over: Severiano, Panchi, Bartolo, Joaquin, Catalina; those who couldn't: Josefa, Margarita, Manuel, Paula, Tom's, Virginia; but especially Mami and Daddy, for paving the way for the new generation: Marco, Maya, and India.
